The Chosen Begins December 3
If you haven’t been able to see the series or even if you have, this is your chance to watch it, react and respond to it in community with fellow parishioners whom you will get to know better and grow closer to. And don’t we all need community right now?! We will watch each episode and then discuss it each week, starting December 3 and going through December 17. We will then take a break and start back up on January 7 and each Tuesday night afterwards until we have finished the series. I sincerely hope you can join us each Tuesday night at 6:30 until 8:00 in the Sanctuary/chapel for this lively and touching, Christ-centered event.
The Chosen is the first-ever multi-season television series based on the life of Christ. The production value is exquisite, even in the eyes of the most discriminating film critic. The film quality itself, the acting, and the characterization of the biblical stories are absolutely enthralling. All the episodes are true to scripture yet expanded upon in a way that doesn’t compromise biblical intent. Unlike many other film versions of stories in the Bible, The Chosen, is a standout!
It is not the Bible nor does it seek to be or replace reading and studying the Bible. The opening credits of The Chosen include the following statement that is worth noting:
“The Chosen is based on the true stories of the gospels of Jesus Christ; some locations and timelines have been combined or condensed. Backstories and some characters or dialogue have been added. However, all biblical and historical content and artistic imagination are designed to support the truth and intention of the Scriptures. Viewers are encouraged to read the gospels.” – Dallas Jenkins – Director
