Sunday April 21 - Ring Out for Earth
Every parish, mission, school, and institution within the six county Diocese of Los Angeles is invited to join together in “Ring Out for Earth” an all call to the urgent need for care of God’s creation as the global atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration has reached 425 parts per million* (ppm), a level unprecedented in all of human history. It is the CO2 from our burning of fossil fuels that is the human-caused pollution responsible for blanketing and warming the planet.
Please join us as we “Ring Out for Earth” after church on Sunday, April 21. Everyone, children included, is invited to ring the bells.
Mobilizing the 55,000 in the diocese to pause and pay attention together for 425 seconds is a powerful and unifying demonstration of Episcopal love-in-action.
If you are unable to join us that day stop at 7:08PM (=425 PPPM) on Monday, April 22, to honor the gift of creation. Please pray this prayer or one of your own or hold silence.
God, maker of marvels, you weave the planet and all its creatures together in kinship; your unifying love is revealed in the interdependence of relationships in the complex world that you have made. Save us from the illusion that humankind is separate and alone, and join us in communion with all inhabitants of the universe; through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, who topples the dividing walls by the power of your Holy Spirit, and who lives and reigns with you, for ever and ever. Amen
