Red Door Vineyard Wine at the Eucharist

On a few select Sundays, it is with great joy that Red Door Vineyard will be offering the altar wine for the Eucharistic celebration. We begin with this year’s Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday services. The grapes are grown here on our campus, and with a communal effort, are transformed into wine at the church.

The wine in the cup is symbolic of Christ’s sacrifice. It unites the Christian community that participates in the sacrament, from the night Christ offered it to his disciples, to all of us attending church today, to everyone who will ever participate in the sacrament in the future.

Every year, Easter reminds us of the possibility of rising into a new life. This is a visually stunning occurrence in the vineyard where, at Easter, we are in bud break. The promise of new life springs forth from the dormant vines, with the ever-present hope of being fruitful.
